Part P Approved
Part P of the Building Regulations limit what electrical work may be carried out by anyone other than a professional electrician who is a competent person registered with an electrical self certification scheme. The aim is to avoid needless accidents; botched wiring, damaged appliances and lack of safety protections such as circuit breakers and earth bondings. A report by the Electrical Safety Council in May 2010 noted that every week in the UK someone dies in an electrical accident in the home.
